Shard Rules

• Exploiting, or taking advantage of bugs in the system for any sort of gain, is grounds for an immediate ban.  You can lose your account and everything on it.  Please report any bugs you find.
  
  
• Non-consensual player interactions are legal and part of normal gameplay, but keep in mind that this is a role-playing game, so please, try to act your part - don't just be rude.
  
  
• While unattended macroing is discouraged and characters caught doing so will be temporarily jailed, there are no permanent consequences (e.g. bans) for such behavior.
  
  
• There is a limit of one account per person.  This is to promote a need to rely on other players.  Transacting with other players is part of the fun.  Signing up for multiple accounts can get your accounts banned.
  
  
• We reserve the right to revoke access of any users that are, in our sole discretion, considered disruptive to the community.
  
  
• This service may be terminated at any time without warning or compensation.
  
  
• Players should join the forums and check there regularly for information that might concern them.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Do you charge a fee?
  No. Playing on the UnrealUO shard will always be free.
  
  
• Does this shard have areas with a Trammel ruleset?
  No. While guards will defend innocent players in guard zones, thieves and murderers are very much a part of our world. You will be held responsible for your actions and we will not hold your hand while you are playing the game.
  
  
• Can I Use My UO-3D Client?
  Yes, but we do not actively support this client.
  
  
• Will you make me a 7x GM or give me stuff when I join?
  No. You will get newbie items according to your beginning skills of choice plus 500 gold, but from there on you are on your own. Some players will be happy to help you out if asked politely, but please don't expect handouts.
  
  
• What are the stat and skill caps per characer?
  The stat cap is 225 total with a maximum of 100 per stat. The skill cap is 700.0 base skill with a maximum of 100.0 per skill. There are no powerscrolls or any other means to have permanent skills or stats over 100.
  
  
• Are skills and stats hard to gain and is there a daily gain cap?
  Depends on what you perceive as "hard". Skills are overall more difficult to gain than on regular shards, but we have a fair, functional skill gain system in place. Stat gains are dependent on skill gains, so if you work your skills, you will gain stats accordingly. There are no daily gain caps.
  
  
• Does this shard have player housing?
  Yes we do. Pre-built houses as well as custom housing are available. Accounts are limited one house per character, with a maximum of 4,930 total lockdowns (the total of your maximum lockdowns for all houses) for the entire account.
  
  
• Is macroing allowed?
  Characters caught macroing unattended will be jailed for a short period of time, however, there is no ban policy for such activity. Just look at it as an added challenge (macroing without ending up in jail).
  
  
• How does the murder count system work?
  Each murder you are reported for accumulates a short-term and a long-term count.  Short-term counts take 8 hours to expire, while long-term counts take 40 hours.  Acquiring a count resets these timers.  A character is flagged a murderer (i.e. red) if they currently have 5 or more counts and may be attacked freely by other characters.  Also, town guards will kill you on sight, so avoid guarded towns.  If you should die with 5 or more short-term counts, you will suffer a temporary stat loss of 20% for 8 hours upon resurrection.
  
  
• Can I become a counselor/seer/GM?
  We do not have an application process for this, but rest assured we will hear about people who are especially helpful and dedicated, so someone might just ask you at some point whether you'd like to join our staff.
  
  
• What software/hardware/hosting do you use to support this shard?
  The UnrealUO shard is running on the RunUO server software with many modifications. The server is located in a rack at a facility in Los Angeles with a gigabit Internet connection. Backup power, redundant hard drives, and remote backups are provided.
  
  
• Can you help me with starting my own shard?
  No, we prefer to put our time and energy into making our shard the best we can and providing you an enjoyable gaming experience.
